Love Is…

blind, in a world that is so divided. But, what if you Let all that you do be done in Love? 1 Corinthians 16:14

Imagine a world where we extended our hearts and trusted our hearts to our neighbors, our community, and the world. Do you think the world might be a better place? It’s only natural to guard our hearts for fear of being hurt, rejected, or ridiculed. But our world so desperately needs love, and it starts with you and me.

What if we let ourselves be vulnerable, trusted our hearts, and did everything in the name of love? Love will always be the answer, always. Sometimes, I think our expectations about love are that we expect something back. But love truly is a verb, and the point of sharing love is that we receive love from our loving actions in return. When we love our neighbors as ourselves, and those in our community by sharing a loving word, a loving action, or even a loving thought toward them, these are small actions, but with a big impact that will make a difference.

Opening our hearts to love in this world today is scary. There’s so much anger, hate, and division. But we can’t let the world’s problems shut down our hearts because nothing positive will come from that. As the great Martin Luther King, Jr said, “Darkness cannot drive out darkness, only light can do that.” Did you know that love can positively impact your heart health by reducing stress and promoting healthier behavior? Hold those you love close, and your neighbors closer.

For me, it’s a conscious decision to commit to doing all that I do in love. Sometimes, I get ahead of myself because I’m angry or frustrated. But when I let those feelings go and surrender to how I would normally respond with love instead, the person responds to me in a more loving way. We have to infuse what we think, say, and do with love in our close relationships, professionally (especially our work), personally, in our community, and in the world. It’s like practicing an attitude of gratitude: it takes practice to keep our hearts open, not be afraid, and lead with our hearts instead. You’ll be happy you did.

Make today, and every day, a promise to yourself and the world to keep your heart open, and Let All That You Do Be Done In Love.

All My Love and Happy Valentine’s Day!!
